About Aircraft Wire PVC/Polyamide & Dual Jacket Insulation - MIL-W-5086A
Jaguar Industries' Aircraft Wire MIL-W-5086A is engineered specifically for aircraft electrical systems, providing reliable printed insulated hook-up wire for demanding aviation applications where performance, durability, and compliance with military specifications are critical. Available in two distinct configurations, TYPE I with PVC/Polyamide insulation and TYPE II with dual jacket construction, this aircraft wire meets stringent MIL-W-5086A requirements for commercial and military aircraft installations. Rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 105°C with 600 Volts R.M.S. voltage capacity, making it suitable for both signal and power distribution applications in aircraft electrical systems. TYPE I aircraft wire features stranded tinned copper conductors with PVC insulation and a protective polyamide (Nylon®) jacket, available in seven sizes from AWG 22 to AWG 10. The tinned copper construction prevents corrosion while maintaining excellent electrical conductivity. TYPE II aircraft wire provides enhanced protection with dual jacket construction, available in sixteen sizes from AWG 22 through 4/0. For sizes AWG 22-10, the dual jacket consists of fiberglass braid plus an extruded Nylon® outer jacket. For larger sizes AWG 8-4/0, the construction uses fiberglass braid with a woven Nylon® braid outer jacket, providing superior mechanical strength and exceptional durability in high-vibration aircraft environments. Applications include aircraft cockpit instrumentation, navigation and communication systems, flight control connections, landing gear electrical systems, aircraft lighting circuits, avionic equipment, fuel system monitoring, hydraulic system components, power distribution, engine monitoring, and any aviation application requiring MIL-W-5086A compliant wire. Standard spool put-up of 1000 feet facilitates efficient installation. Supplied in white as standard with other colors available upon factory consultation.
