Jaguar Industries' J-105 heat shrink tubing is an electrical grade irradiated polyvinyl chloride material manufactured to meet demanding MIL-I-23053/2, AMS 3579, UL, and CSA specifications for general purpose commercial and industrial applications. Rated for continuous operation from -35°C to 105°C, this tubing is recommended as a reliable heat shrinkable solution for non-critical commercial applications where cost-effectiveness meets performance requirements. The irradiation process significantly enhances the material properties compared to non-irradiated vinyl shrink tubing, offering higher operating temperatures, reduced longitudinal shrinkage of only 10-20% nominal, and extended shelf life for better inventory management. With a 2:1 shrink ratio, J-105 provides excellent coverage and secure fit over various component sizes and cable assemblies. The tubing is extremely heat sensitive, shrinking quickly at 100°C, allowing for rapid installation in high-volume production environments, though it should be stored below 20°C to maintain optimal properties and prevent premature shrinkage. Available in twelve sizes ranging from 3/64 inch to 2 inches, covering a wide range of wire gauges and component dimensions from small electronic assemblies to larger industrial cable applications. Wall thickness ranges from .020 inches to .050 inches nominal recovered thickness, providing adequate insulation and mechanical protection for most commercial applications. Standard black color offers UV resistance and professional appearance, ideal for visible installations and outdoor applications. Excellent physical properties include 3000 PSI tensile strength, exceptional 300% ultimate elongation for flexibility and strain relief, and specific gravity of 1.32. Superior thermal performance demonstrated through heat aging tests showing 95% elongation retention after 168 hours at 136°C, ensuring long-term reliability in elevated temperature environments. Flammability rating meets UL VW-1 standards for fire safety in electrical and electronic applications. Good electrical insulation properties with 1,000 V/mil dielectric strength and 10¹² ohm-cm volume resistivity provide reliable protection in low to medium voltage applications. Chemical resistance to most oils and chemicals ensures durability in industrial environments, while fungus resistance per MIL-I-7444 makes it suitable for humid and tropical conditions.
