Jaguar Industries' J-221 heat shrink tubing is an electrical grade polyolefin product engineered to meet rigorous MIL-I-23053/5 Class 1 and Class 2, AMS-3636, AMS-3637, UL, and CSA specifications for demanding military, aerospace, and high-reliability commercial applications. Rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 135°C with exceptional capability to withstand elevated temperatures of 300°C for short periods, making it ideal for high-temperature wire harness assemblies and critical electronic installations. The minimum shrink temperature of 121°C provides controlled installation over sensitive components while the 2:1 shrink ratio ensures excellent coverage and secure fit. Available in fifteen sizes ranging from 3/64 inch to 5 inches, covering applications from delicate wire splices to large cable bundles and harness assemblies. Class 1 flame retardant versions available in sizes 3/64" through 4" in multiple colors including black, white, red, blue, and yellow with custom colors available, while 5" size comes in black only. Class 2 non-flame retardant clear tubing available in sizes 3/64" through 5" for applications requiring visual inspection of underlying components. Wall thickness ranges from .016 inches to .060 inches nominal recovered thickness, providing robust insulation and mechanical protection. Unprinted as standard with custom printing available upon request for part identification and traceability requirements. Packaged in convenient 4-foot lengths and reels for production efficiency, with custom cut pieces available for specific applications. Outstanding physical properties include 2400 PSI tensile strength, exceptional 400% ultimate elongation for superior flexibility and strain relief, minimal 4.5% longitudinal change for dimensional stability, and 1.7X10³ PSI secant modulus. Specific gravity of 1.3 for black and .93 for clear versions. Superior thermal performance demonstrated through rigorous testing including heat aging showing 175% elongation retention after 336 hours at 175°C, heat shock resistance with no dripping or cracking after 4 hours at 250°C passing mandrel wrap test, and low temperature flexibility verified with no cracking after 4 hours at -55°C. Self-extinguishing flammability rating meets UL 224 all-tubing flame test for Class 1, ensuring fire safety in critical applications. Excellent electrical insulation properties with 900 V/mil dielectric strength and 10¹⁵ ohm-cm volume resistivity make J-221 ideal for high-voltage and high-reliability applications. Chemical resistance includes non-corrosive performance, excellent solvent resistance maintaining 1000 PSI tensile strength and 400 V/mil dielectric strength after exposure, minimal water absorption of only 0.2%, and non-nutrient properties for fungus resistance in humid environments. Perfect for wire harness assemblies, electrical splices and terminations, cable jacketing, automotive and aerospace wiring systems, military electronics, industrial control systems, telecommunications equipment, renewable energy installations, marine applications, mass transit systems, and any application requiring high-performance heat shrink tubing with superior temperature resistance, excellent mechanical properties, and MIL-SPEC reliability. The combination of polyolefin material, wide temperature range, multiple color options, and comprehensive size availability makes J-221 an ideal choice for demanding applications requiring long-term reliability and performance in harsh environments.
