DESCRIPTION: JAGUAR J-295 TUBING IS AN ELECTRICAL GRADE SEMI-RIGID POLYOLEFIN PRODUCT RATED FOR -55°C TO 135°C CONTINUOUS OPERATION AND CAN STAND ELEVATED TEMPERATURES OF 300°C FOR SHORT PERIODS. IT IS TYPICALLY USED IN STRAIN RELIEF APPLICATIONS AND FOR INSULATING MECHANICALLY WEAK AREAS SUCH AS WIRE SPLICES, TERMINATIONS AND SOLDER JOINTS.

Jaguar Industries' J-295 heat shrink tubing is an electrical grade semi-rigid polyolefin product engineered to meet demanding MIL-I-23053/6 Class 1 and Class 2, AMS-3638, AMS-3639, and UL specifications for military, aerospace, and high-reliability applications requiring strain relief and mechanical protection. Rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 135°C with exceptional capability to withstand elevated temperatures of 300°C for short periods, making it ideal for high-temperature wire harness assemblies and critical electronic installations. The semi-rigid construction provides superior mechanical strength and strain relief, making it typically used in applications where insulating mechanically weak areas such as wire splices, terminations, and solder joints is critical. The 2:1 shrink ratio ensures excellent coverage and secure fit over various component sizes and cable assemblies. Available in eight sizes ranging from 3/64 inch to 1/2 inch, covering applications from delicate wire splices to medium cable assemblies. Class 1 flame retardant versions feature color-coded sizes for easy identification: 3/64" yellow, 1/16" white, 3/32" blue, 1/8" red, 3/16" green, 1/4 gray, 3/8" brown, 1/2" white, with black and other colors available. Class 2 non-flame retardant clear tubing available for applications requiring visual inspection of underlying components. Wall thickness ranges from .020 inches to .030 inches nominal recovered thickness, providing robust insulation and superior mechanical protection compared to flexible alternatives. Packaged in convenient 4-foot lengths for easy handling and installation, with custom cut pieces available for specific applications requiring precise lengths. Outstanding physical properties include 2600 PSI tensile strength providing excellent mechanical support, 400% ultimate elongation for good flexibility while maintaining semi-rigid characteristics, minimal ±5% longitudinal change for excellent dimensional stability, and 4.5X10³ PSI secant modulus indicating superior rigidity for strain relief applications. Specific gravity of 1.25 for black and .95 for clear versions. Superior thermal performance demonstrated through rigorous testing including heat aging showing 175% elongation retention after 336 hours at 175°C, heat shock resistance with no dripping or cracking after 4 hours at 250°C passing mandrel wrap test, and low temperature flexibility verified with no cracking after 4 hours at -55°C. Self-extinguishing flammability rating for Class 1 ensures fire safety in critical applications. Excellent electrical insulation properties with 800 V/mil dielectric strength and 10¹⁵ ohm-cm volume resistivity make J-295 ideal for high-voltage and high-reliability applications. Chemical resistance includes non-corrosive performance, excellent solvent resistance maintaining 1600 PSI total strength and 400 V/mil dielectric strength after exposure, minimal water absorption of only 0.2%, and non-nutrient properties for fungus resistance in humid environments.
