About Shrink Tubing J-650 (VITON®) - MIL-I-23053/13

Jaguar Industries' J-650 heat shrink tubing is an electrical grade modified fluorolastomer (VITON®) product engineered to meet demanding MIL-I-23053/13 and MIL-R-46846 Type III Class 1 specifications for the most extreme aerospace, chemical processing, and high-temperature applications requiring exceptional chemical resistance combined with elastomeric flexibility. Rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 200°C, this premium fluoroelastomer tubing combines the high-temperature performance approaching PTFE with the flexibility and conformability of elastomeric materials. The VITON® fluoroelastomer material is very abrasion resistant, highly flexible, and resistant to most fuels and alkalis, making it the ideal solution for aircraft and aerospace wiring protection, chemical plant installations, and other applications where both extreme chemical resistance and flexibility are required. With a 2:1 shrink ratio, J-650 ensures excellent coverage and secure fit over various component sizes and cable assemblies while maintaining elastomeric properties. Available in twelve sizes ranging from 1/8 inch to 2 inches, covering applications from small wire assemblies to larger industrial cable protection requirements. Standard black color provides UV resistance and professional appearance for visible installations and outdoor applications. Wall thickness ranges from .030 inches to .065 inches nominal recovered thickness, providing robust mechanical protection while maintaining the flexibility advantage over rigid materials. Packaged on convenient reels for production efficiency, with custom cut pieces available for specific applications requiring precise lengths. Outstanding physical properties include 2400 PSI tensile strength, exceptional 450% ultimate elongation providing superior flexibility and conformability to irregular surfaces while maintaining chemical resistance, +1,-10% longitudinal change for excellent dimensional stability, and specific gravity of 1.7. Low temperature flexibility verified with no cracking after 4 hours at -55°C ensures reliable performance across the full temperature range. Self-extinguishing flammability rating ensures fire safety in critical applications. Good electrical insulation properties with 500 V/mil dielectric strength and 10¹⁵ ohm-cm volume resistivity make J-650 suitable for electrical applications in extremely harsh chemical environments. Exceptional chemical resistance is the defining characteristic with non-corrosive performance and excellent ratings across all major categories: fuel and oil resistance, solvent resistance, abrasion resistance (very high), acid resistance, and alkali resistance. This comprehensive chemical resistance combined with elastomeric flexibility makes J-650 unique among high-performance heat shrink materials. Perfect for aircraft and aerospace fuel system wiring protection, chemical processing plant cable installations, petroleum refinery applications, industrial equipment exposed to aggressive chemicals, automotive fuel injection systems, hydraulic system protection requiring flexibility, military electronics in chemical environments, oil and gas industry high-temperature applications, semiconductor manufacturing wet process areas, pharmaceutical and biotech chemical-resistant installations, marine applications requiring fuel resistance and flexibility, subsea cable protection, laboratory instrumentation exposed to solvents and acids, and any application requiring fluoroelastomer heat shrink tubing with exceptional chemical resistance, high-temperature capability, very high abrasion resistance, flexibility, and MIL-SPEC reliability. The combination of VITON® fluoroelastomer material, temperature rating to 200°C, comprehensive excellent chemical resistance ratings, very high abrasion resistance, elastomeric flexibility with 450% elongation, and dual MIL-SPEC certifications makes J-650 the ultimate choice for the most demanding applications requiring the chemical inertness and temperature capability approaching PTFE combined with the flexibility and toughness of elastomeric materials, bridging the gap between rigid fluoropolymer and flexible elastomer heat shrink products where standard materials cannot meet the performance requirements.
