About Shrink Tubing J-MDT - MIL-I-23053/15
Jaguar Industries' J-MDT heat shrink tubing is an electrical grade flexible polyolefin with an integrated thin layer of thermoplastic adhesive, engineered to meet demanding MIL-I-23053/15 Class 2 specifications for applications requiring environmental sealing and protection. Rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 110°C, this dual-layer adhesive-lined tubing combines the mechanical protection of polyolefin with the environmental sealing capabilities of thermoplastic adhesive. When heated to its minimum shrink temperature of 121°C, the adhesive sealant melts and is forced into contact with the covered product as the outer tube shrinks, creating a flexible barrier against environmental contaminants when cooled. This makes J-MDT ideal for sealing splices and large transitions in aerospace, military, telecommunications, and industrial applications. With a 3:1 shrink ratio, J-MDT provides exceptional coverage range and secure fit over various component sizes, cable assemblies, and irregular shapes while forming a protective environmental seal. Available in nine sizes ranging from 0.40 inches to 4.30 inches expanded inner diameter, covering applications from medium wire splices to large cable transitions. Standard black color provides UV resistance and professional appearance, with red color available for J-MDT-0400A, J-MDT-0800A, and J-MDT-1100A sizes for color-coding applications. Approximate cable size ranges from #12-#6 AWG to 1000-2500 MCM, accommodating standard wire gauges through large industrial cables. Packaged in convenient 4-foot lengths for installation efficiency, with custom cut pieces available for specific applications. Self-extinguishing flammability rating ensures fire safety in critical applications. Excellent electrical insulation properties with 500 V/mil dielectric strength and 10¹⁵ ohm-cm volume resistivity make J-MDT suitable for electrical applications requiring environmental sealing.
